My son, Joe, is currently the senior captain of Boston College’s Basketball Team. I first met Rich on the Guilford outdoor courts where he was teaching young players the fundamentals of the game.  What I thought was so impressive and different about his approach was how he developed the complete player.  He did not just focus on one or two fundamental skills but incorporated multiple skill sets in a series of drills.  He also used plyometric drills and methods to develop power in the proper muscle groups needed to become a superior basketball player. It was obvious from observing these sessions that the kids he taught were motivated and responded to Rich’s personality.  It has been my observation on the shoreline over years that this type of teaching is sorely needed and has been lost over time.

“I have been around the game of basketball for forty plus years.  I have seen and used many different DVD’s to demonstrate ballhandling drills.  Coach Rich Walton’s far exceeds any other I have seen.  It is by far the most comprehensive and intensive ballhandling workout, it touches on every aspect of the game.  I would recommend it to everyone from the beginner to elite player.”

Coach Rich Walton’s dribbling presentation was the most upbeat and vigorous as I have seen in my 15 years of running basketball clinic’s, his energy is endless.  He is very clear and precise, and he involves all campers.  He combines just the right amount of speaking and hands on activities.

Please, use me as a reference. I will be a VERY STRONG advocate for you and your coaching style and philosophy!!! I have been a Basketball Official for over 26 year. We appreciate the way you handle the young men, as a team and as individuals.  This is just the experience we were seeking for Kyle. He needed to learn how to “play” the game, truly give his best work ethic, focus, and improve upon facets of his skill and talent.

Thank you,
Kevin Wiggins

My son Brian Salzillo played for the CT Gold team last spring season and had a tremendous experience. The dedication and determination that Rich Walton exhibited was second to none!! Brian said that he had “never been in better shape” and that he had “learned more from Coach Walton than I have learned from any other coach!” The experience of playing in front of college coaches was fantastic and one of the highlights of Brian’s basketball career!Coach Walton gets more out of the kids than even they think is possible. He makes a total commitment and follows through.

I wanted to thank you so much for all you have done for me.  You taught me so much I can’t even explain, and not only basketball. You taught me to work hard for something that I want. You’re an awesome coach. Thanks again for everything!

After working out with Coach Walton at the start of my junior year, my shooting percentage became the highest it had ever been, my turnover average was cut in half, and my steals per game average also increased due to the improved speed and agility I had from doing “ladder drill after ladder drill.”
However, I took away something much more than just “higher stats.” The most important and necessary aspect of the game I learned from Coach Walton’s workouts was confidence. My confidence level grew with every 90 minute session. My spin dribble became one fluid motion and my reverse, left handed layup became almost natural. I began to dribble behind my back regardless of where I was on the court, and my once difficult between-the-legs dribble soon became one of my favorite moves to use to get past defenders.

It is obvious to me that my athletic accomplishments would not have been possible without the help of Coach Walton. My game was elevated to another levelMy teammates and coaches were all impressed when I started the season with more confidence, go-to defense, and unstoppable moves!

I met Rich Walton when I was in eighth grade. He went from being my travel basketball coach, to my personal trainer, to someone I now consider a brother, a mentor, a close friend, and someone I look up to. Rich Walton took me under his wing, taught me how to play the game of basketball, and taught me life lessons along the way. I am forever indebted to him for everything he has done for me. He gave me the building blocks to reach my fullest potential on and off the basketball court. He taught me the importance of hard work, and perseverance, and has been by my side every step of the way, giving me the motivation to keep pushing on. Rich Walton is not only the best coach I know, but one of the best people I know.

Coach Rich,

THANK YOU for a great season and also to Taylor and Jeremy! CT Wizards was exactly the program we were looking for. Focus on fundamentals, skill development, and individual/team improvement. Brett really had fun and learned a lot of basketball along the way!  You can always find him in the driveway, trying to master those dribbling drills, or working on a left-handed layup.   Please keep us posted on future happenings with the Wizards!

Rich and Jeremy,

Thank you for working with Ben this past season.  I think Ben learned the importance of fundamental basketball skills from you.  You both are clearly good teachers of the game and have a passion for what you do.  Thank you again for your efforts this season!

Rich – Just wanted to thank YOU, as well as Jeremy and Taylor, for a great AAU season. I know Matt had a blast and learned a lot. I can’t wait to see him in action on the travel circuit next year. Hopefully, he puts all of those new moves to use. Looking forward to hearing about anything else you guys might have planned.  Keep us posted.

Thank you for all your work with the 13u team. I feel your focus on skill development has greatly improved Luke’s level of play and will certainly help him going into high school. Please keep us informed as to future programs you are running as I also have a 10 year old who would benefit from your coaching.
Thanks again

Just to let you know, I really enjoyed watching the game last night.  I can see why this is going to be a great team.  I loved how you interacted with each kid on the team. Your coaching is amazing.  I am very happy Keegan is a part of this, and I am sure that his confidence will continue to grow.  Thanks again, Rich

We thought your Wizards program last spring was a valuable addition to the boys’ development as basketball players.  And you were true to your word……..it was the drilling and intensity of your practice sessions, even more than the tournaments, that created the most improvement. Best wishes for the continued success of your program in the future.
