ONCE OUR  3 MONTH SKILL DEVELOPMENT BASKETBALL TRAINING SEASON BEGINS…

What We Teach, How We Teach it…

THE STYLE OF TRAININGS THAT WE DO…

ARE WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!!!

The Wizards Players’ OBJECTIVE, measurable progress with each player’s  individual skillset is all that matters!

Coach Walton, The Fundamental Man…

has taken the time to do something that no one else has done…. and that is to design and deliver a complete series of Benchmark Skills that are OBJECTIVE!  This means that a player either CAN or CAN’T  perform a Particular Skill on command!

The Benchmark Skills are all that matter in order to become a great player

Players either practice with a purpose day in and day out in order to improve to hit these Benchmarks… OR they’re not going to get there! (That’s the reality!) These Benchmarks are all tailored to specific, individual improvement – and are all broken down from the Basic to Advanced Level – so that Players are VERY CLEAR as to EXACTLY what they need to be doing in order to order to hit their Benchmarks!

IF YOU MASTER THE BENCHMARKS… YOU DEVELOP CONFIDENCE WITH THE BALL!!!  AND MASTER PLAYING THE GAME AT A MORE ADVANCED LEVEL… Moreover, these Benchmark Skill Assessments are designed and delivered via a curriculum throughout the entire course of the 3 Month season – as it is paramount that the players know EXACTLY what it takes to become great player!

PLAYERS NEED 1000’s OF REPETITIONS!!!

And have FUN while doing it ALL!!!

Practicing for IMPROVEMENT, ACCOUNTABILITY, and MUSCLE MEMORY, and MASTERY!

There’s nothing better than a player being able to leave a practice and be expected to know a particular skill by next practice… And it’s not some stupid play that the coach looked up on some coaching website.  The players are expected to practice for improvement at developmentally appropriate skill series on “off” days.   Coach Walton and the CT Wizards Coaching Staff plan and deliver Skill Regimens  in order to assess, improve upon, and expand each player’s current level of mastery. It is the intent of each practice for players to receive the maximum amount of repetitions possible in order to receive proper feedback and reinforcement.

That’s what the AAU Season SHOULD be about…

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT!!!

CT Wizards Philosophy toward AAU

The Wizards coaching staff takes an extraordinary approach to the AAU season by placing MORE VALUE and PRIORITY ON ITS PRACTICE REGIMEN!!!

Sure, Games are Fun… Competition is Great… Tournament Championships are nice, but…

MAXIMAL IMPROVEMENT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!

Despite the fact that The CT Wizards Program compete in and win SEVERAL tournaments throughout the season, Coach Walton and his staff believe that the AAU Spring Basketball Season is the “Off-season.” (the time to get better!!!).  Therefore, the OBJECTIVE, measurable progress of each player takes precedence over the win/loss outcome of each tournament.

The Wizards Coaches, Players and Players alike know from experience that the true growth comes BETWEEN the games!

And Attending a Wizards Practice is unlike ANY practice the players have ever gone to!

As Coach Walton has built his reputation as a Skill Development Specialist, hundreds of high school and college players come to him to develop their game beyond  their current ability.   Over time, he has honed his abilities to develop versatile players with advanced skill. Many of those players not only perform at high level throughout their high school careers, but also go on to have college careers, too.

We work with players at the middle school through high school level – assisting players to comprehend the kinesthetic (efficient, coordinated, balanced, athletic) movements that are essential to improving as a player.  Most importantly, our practices are workout circuits – engaging players with a core curriculum from The Fundamental Man’s Benchmark Series

Skill Assessments, Video Analysis, and Objective Numerical Feedback!!!

We regularly use Advanced Shooting Technology and Ball Handling Assessments (www.94Fifty.com) as well as video analysis throughout practice sessions.

The final phase of our strategic player development plan is then for players to set specific training goals through utilizing The BenchMark System and The 94Fifty Ball Handling and Shooting Assessments that we employ throughout the course of the season. By using the player improvement guidelines that coincide with our practice regimen, each player becomes more accountable for their own progress. As a result, players adapt very quickly to functionally implementing challenging, dynamic and versatile skills into their game.. Most of all, Players begin to really practice with a passion and progress significantly week to week!

This overall approach is a critical component to our regimen. It allows for players to self-analyze and correct based on what they can actually see and feel as they are attempting to execute and Master a new  skill. During practice sessions, attention to detail and immediate and ongoing feedback is provided to players from the coaching staff. By understanding what a particular skill looks like and feels like when performing skills correctly, the coaching staff and the players are working in unison to ensure that players are practicing and executing all movements correctly prior to practicing for improved performance at game speeds!

At this point, there isn’t much else to say, except that…

Nobody develops players better than The Wizards Program…

NOBODY!
